What you’re buying

A $5 reservation for one Friday-night Zoom chat about one movie. You watch the movie on your own time during the week. Friday at 7:30pm PT, we match you with one other person who paid for the same week and send you both a Zoom link. The chat is 10 minutes.

Code of conduct

The whole product is two people talking about a movie. That works because both show up in good faith. Specifically:

If you’re reported for breaking any of these, we may ban your email and refuse future signups. No refund in that case.

Refunds

One tap from your confirmation email, anytime up to chat time. Click the cancel-and-refund link, confirm, done. Money goes back to your card in 5–10 business days. No questions, no forms, no email back-and-forth.

If your match cancels after you’ve been paired, you’re refunded automatically. You don’t need to do anything.

If we cancel a week (technical failure, founder is sick), everyone signed up that week is refunded automatically.

What we collect

Your email and your timezone. That’s it. We don’t collect a name, photo, location, or anything else. Payments go through Stripe; we never see your card number.

Your match doesn’t see your email or any other detail until the moment you both join the Zoom. Then you see each other’s Zoom display names. Whatever you set those to.

Third parties involved

We don’t control what those services do with the metadata they need to function. If you want to live cookie-free, this isn’t the right service.

No warranty

We try to make every Friday work. Sometimes Zoom is buggy, sometimes your match doesn’t show, sometimes the founder messes up the matching. When that happens, we refund you. We don’t guarantee a specific match quality, a specific movie selection, or any particular outcome from any chat.

Two people on a Zoom is two people on a Zoom. We facilitate. We’re not your therapist, your date, or your fix for everything. (Sometimes it’s nice anyway.)

We can change the service

This is a small, weekend-built thing. The price, the time slot, the matching rules, the movie selection criteria, and the features may all change. We’ll tell you what’s changing in advance for anything material.

If we shut the service down, anyone who paid for an upcoming Friday is refunded.

Disputes

If you’ve got a complaint, email hi@takeitslow.life first. That solves 99% of things. If something needs to escalate beyond that, governing law is California, USA, where the founder lives.
